Member Project! Barrel Sauna by Sarah

Check out this DTL member project by DTL founder Sarah, teacher Ian, and partner Ed!

“We used a lot of DTL tools: shovels, wheelbarrow, tamper, 6’ level, squares, mallet, drill and impact driver, channel locks, hole saw, and ladder for the barrel itself. We used fish tape, wire cutters, pvc cutters and some other electrician tools to run power to it and do the wiring. Make sure your partner’s a electrician ❤️⚡️ and also get Ian your Shop Safety instruct to help, this is like the 7th one he’s built. Now we can roast our old bones from the comfort of home!! 😌”

Be like Sarah! Start a Tool Library OR become a member for just $150/year.

Share the Tools Community Quotes!

Did y'all know a percentage of all your tool library, class, open workshop hours, and gift bucks purchases go toward helping folks and orgs afford tools?

As a non-profit, a chunk of our total revenue, gold memberships, and your donations hangout at a big pool party called the Share the Tools Fund which gets distributed via financial assistance, and these quotes are from recipients.

Want to throw some extra bucks into the pool party? We have a rolling fundraiser through the 2025 that you can donate to now.

Thanks for helping your community!

Tools You Can Borrow: Portable Orbital Sander

Tools You Can Borrow: @craftsman portable orbital sander, available for checkout to Denver Tool Library Members.

Why an orbital sander? This sander uses a sanding pad that moves in tiny circles (aka orbits), which helps you smooth wood, remove old finishes, or prep surfaces for painting without leaving swirl marks or gouges. Compared to a belt sander (which is great for rapid material removal but can be too aggressive) or a palm sander (which can be slow and less versatile), an orbital sander might be the perfect goldilocks tool for your project.

So if you’ve got a coffee table that needs a facelift, some rough edges to smooth, or you’re tired of sanding by hand until your arm falls off, give this tool a spin.

You could spend $80+ at a big box store to use this thing a few times per year (booo), OR you could spend $150 per year on a Tool Library Membership and get access to this tool and like 6,000 others for no additional fee.
