Cutting Boards Woodworking Class

*You do not need to take any of our Woodworking Fundamentals classes including Woodworking I, II, or III in order to take this class. No experience is required.

Learn how to make an original cutting board from a medley of assorted hardwoods to suit all of your chopping or slicing needs. They can serve as a great personal touch to your kitchen or use it to dazzle your friends with your custom charcuterie presentation. All skill levels are welcome from total beginner to advanced.

The woodworking class will go over all the basics you need to know in order to make a custom cutting board, including how to operate all the necessary machinery such as a table saw and planer, and how these tools help to create squared edges. We will cover the process of gluing and clamping your pieces to create custom blanks, then ending with sanding and applying an oil finish. Have fun, learn a new skill (or 3!) and take home a finished product in time for dinner. Cutting board care instructions, woodshop safety tutorials and DTL enthusiasm & encouragement provided.

About the Teacher

Professional woodworker and all-around great guy Ian Saunders will be teaching this informative class. Ian is an independent woodworker crafting beautiful tables, desks, bars and art. He went to Red Rocks Community College for furniture making and developed his woodworking skills as an apprentice under a cabinet maker. Ian has been in education most of his life including teaching youth carpentry, natural building, and safety.
