What You’ll Make:

  • A custom-fit sterling silver cuff bracelet featuring a forged infinity symbol at its center. This elegant and durable piece is perfect for everyday wear or as a meaningful handmade gift.

Skills & Concepts You’ll Learn:

  • Essential studio safety and proper tool use

  • Forging silver wire to create the infinity shape

  • Applying hammered textures for a unique finish

  • Forming and shaping the cuff on a bracelet mandrel

  • Basic soldering techniques to join the cuff

  • Filing, sanding, and polishing for a professional look

Equipment & Tools You’ll Learn:

  • Jeweler’s files, various texturing hammers, bracelet mandrel, soldering torch, and polishing equipment.

Class Outline:

  1. Studio Safety & Intro: Overview of the project, torch safety, and tool demonstration.

  2. Forging & Forming: Students practice forging the infinity symbol and shaping the cuff with instructor guidance.

  3. Soldering & Finishing: Students solder their cuff and then file, sand, and polish their piece.

  4. Wrap-Up: Review, tips for silver care, and Q&A.

About the Teacher

Liz honed her skills while earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts with an emphasis in small metals and sculpture. Inspired by the world around her, she continued her education with a Masters in Cultural Studies. Liz’s extensive experience in metal work includes welding, blacksmithing, and a career in sculpture conservation, including working at the Smithsonian. Her teaching background ranges from first grade art classes to private jewelry lessons and has spanned over a decade.
