Woodworking Instructor (1099 Contractor)

Job Summary:
We're seeking a skilled and passionate woodworking instructor to teach our Picture Frame and Floating Shelf classes, and potentially more. Schedule & Time Commitment:
Availability: Flexible, part-time schedule requiring weekend availability.
Frequency: Teach 2-4 classes per month, depending on student enrollment.
Per-Class Commitment: Each class is about 5 hours and requires about 1 hour for setup before class and 1 hour for cleanup after.
Compensation:
Pay Rate: $300-$450 per class. This covers instruction, material sourcing, workshop setup, and cleanup.
Materials: Instructors purchase class materials and are reimbursed for 50% of the cost.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead classes, managing all aspects from curriculum planning to execution.
Purchase, prepare, and transport all class materials.
Handle all workshop setup, breakdown, and thorough cleanup.
Provide clear instruction and hands-on guidance, ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment for all students.
Communicate promptly with the class director regarding scheduling (within 48 hours).
Assist in developing class descriptions and providing images for marketing.
Qualifications:
5+ years of woodworking experience.
2+ years of teaching or instructional experience.
Expertise in woodshop safety and equipment operation.
Ability to work independently, from class prep to problem-solving during workshops.
Commitment to creating a supportive and inclusive environment for a diverse range of learners, including women, people of color, trans and nonbinary individuals, and people with disabilities.
Able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
