HIRING: PART-TIME TOOL LIBRARIAN POSITION

About the Denver Tool Library:

The Denver Tool Library (DTL) is a community-based, non-profit organization that provides access to a wide variety of tools, equipment, and resources for home improvement, gardening, woodworking, and more. We empower individuals and communities by fostering resource sharing, skill-building, and sustainable practices.

Position Summary:

Tool Librarians play a vital role in the Denver Tool Library as they are the first face someone sees when they come in to learn more about DTL, check out tools, learn about classes, and answer any incoming questions. Tool librarians are responsible for checking tools in and out for members, keeping the tool library clean and accessible, and fostering a welcoming environment for people to come in and learn about tools!

Time Commitment:

We are looking to fill our Thursday (2pm-7pm) and Saturday (10am-3pm) shifts, in addition to on-call opportunities. In your application, please state which shift(s) you’re available for. Candidates should have general availability during our open hours - Tuesdays & Thursdays from 2pm-7pm and Saturdays & Sundays from 10am-3pm. 

Compensation:

This is an hourly paid position at $22/hour.

Responsibilities:

  • Checking tools in and out

  • Cleaning, organizing, and tidying tools & the shop

  • Helping members find the tools they are looking for

  • Signing up new members

  • Inventorying new tools & donations

  • Answering phone calls & replying to emails

Qualifications:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. 

  • Must be reliable and trustworthy.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Passion for the Denver Tool Library’s mission and commitment to community engagement.

  • Proficiency with basic computer applications (e.g., email, spreadsheets).

  • Ability to adapt to changing needs and priorities.
