Woodworking III: Box Joinery Class

with Jonathan Carlyon

*This class has suggested but not required prerequisites. See below for details.

Boxes are fundamental to woodworking. If you want to make drawers, desks, bookcases or beds, you first have to know how to build a box. More than that, boxes are used throughout your entire life for keep-sakes, recipes, note-cards, jewelry, tea bags, cigars, and much more!

Building on the skills you developed in Woodworking I and II, in this class, we will design and construct the basic box using a new joint called a "finger" or "box" joint. Finger joints are incredibly strong, aesthetically balanced, and are relatively easy to make. You will also practice layout and measuring your pieces while focusing on design principles.

By the end of the class, you will bring home a one-of-a-kind piece that will last a lifetime (and even longer)!
