Power Tool Petting Zoo is Back! Women and LGBTQ Folks

Power Tool Petting Zoo: Women and LGBTQ Folks class has returned from a hiatus! We just listed two new dates: Saturday, January 11th at 4:00 PM and Sunday, January 12th at 5:30 PM.

Reclaim the woodshop! In this class we invite women, gender-expansive, and LGBTQ folks to get comfy with drills, saws, nail guns, and more in a supportive, hands-on environment. If you have ever wanted to take a demolition hammer to the cis-hetero patriarchy, but nobody told you how to turn the thing on, this class is for you!

About Your Instructor: Dani (they/them or she/her) has been DIYing since their teenage years, when their mom taught them how to safely use her miter saw in the family living room. Dani spent nearly a decade working as a landscape contractor, has built two small backyard homes (a yurt and a 12x8 tiny home on wheels), and since moving to Denver has enjoyed learning to build furniture at DTL. They are excited to share the liberated feeling that comes with the tool know-how to build the thing you want, how you want it.

Member Project! Wood Table by Adam

Check out this DTL member project by Adam!

"I took your workshop certification course back in October in order to use your planer for my project. I wanted to thank your team for helping me get my tabletop nice and smooth."

Be like Adam! Take our Woodworking I: Shop Safety Certification class so you can use our Open Shop Hours, and then become a member for just $150/year. Financial assistance is available for some individuals and organizations.

Goal Reached: $10,000 Donated!!

You did it!! We made our 2024 Share the Tools goal of $10,000, which means we don’t need to annoy you with tons of end of year fundraising content! Woohoooo!! (I mean, of course you can still donate via Colorado Gives if you’d like, but we will spare you the tons of the “please donate” posts).

Many MANY thanks to everyone who donated through 2024 to our Share the Tools Fund, which gets tools in the hands of the individuals & orgs who need them most. Your donations get spread across our non-profit to buy more tools, pay more staff, and eventually get us a bigger space. All these extra tools, staff, and space allows us to give out more financial assistance to our community of makers.
