Last Chance! Donations Matched at First Friday Teacher's Market

From now until this Friday, May 3rd during our First Friday Teacher’s Handmade Market, it is the last chance to get your Share the Tools Fund donation matched!

What’s the Share the Tools Fund?

People need tools to keep their homes comfortable, functional, and safe. Organizations need tools for community workdays, facility upkeep, and other mission-driven activities. The Share the Tools Fund gets tools in the hands of those people & organizations who need them most.

Many many thanks to everyone who has donated so far! We're already a third of the way to our goal of $10,000 this year. Your donations go directly to…

  • Increasing the availability of financial assistance for individuals & organizations dollar for dollar

  • Adding new, high-demand tools for you to borrow

  • Repairing and maintaining our 5,000+ available public-use tools

  • Taking care of our staff so they can take care of our community

Thank You!

April Bday Fundraiser Almost Over! $3,070 Raised So Far

Thank you everyone who has donated to our Share the Tools Fund for our April Bday Fundraiser so far! Including the matching donations, we have raised $2,920 so far this year. Because of you, our Financial Assistance Applications are now open and we are able to start awarding scholarships to our programs in May! Your donations support getting tools into the hands of people and orgs who need them most by subsidizing big discounts and free memberships, classes, and open workshop hours.

If you haven't donated yet, you still have until the end of this month to get your donations matched! We’ll keep you updated throughout the year on how your dollars have tangibly helped our mission to get tools into the hands of whoever needs them.

Thank You!!

Brand New Class! Fermentation: Essentials & Sauerkraut

Brand New Class! Fermentation: Essentials & Sauerkraut w/ Alex of Permaculture. The first class is May 20th at 5:30pm.

In our new Fermentation class, Alex will provide students with a deeper understanding of the history and benefits of fermentation and the slow food movement. Most excitingly, each student will walk away with their very own sauerkraut to take home and enjoy in as little as 24 hours! The processes you will learn in this class can also be applied to ferments such as kimchi, kombucha, cottage cheese, and kefir. Beginners are welcome.

About Your Instructor Alex Nees: I have worked in food production as a farmer and gardener for 7 years, and have found immense pleasure in working with my hands and exploring ways in which I can make my favorite recipes at home. I joined forces with two friends of mine three years ago to start "Pickle People" - a cottage kitchen operation allowing us to package and sell our very own ferments at various markets around town. I believe in the power of slow food, and it's benefits on the health of our bodies as well as the health of our communities!

Share the Tools! $2,270 raised so far!
