πŸŽπŸŽ‰April is our Birthday Month! Donations Matched!πŸŽ‰πŸŽ

The Denver Tool Library turned 9 years old this month, and for our birthday we are asking you to help us start our new Share the Tools fund! Best part is, during our fundraiser from April 1st to April 30th, 2024, all donations are matched dollar for dollar!

WHY DONATE TO THE SHARE THE TOOLS FUND IN APRIL FOR OUR DONATION MATCHING BIRTHDAY FUNDRAISER?

Reason #2: More and better tools that you can borrow

Not only do your donations help underrepresented makers, they help YOU! With more funding, we can afford more inventory for ALL of our members, which means more quality and a wider variety of tools for your project.

Get Financial Assistance! Applications Now Open

Thanks to all of our Share the Tools Fund donors, we're officially able to open our financial assistance applications! If you or your organization qualifies, you may receive discounted or free access to any of our programs.

For details and to apply, head on over to our Financial Assistance page.

Want to contribute to the fund to help people and orgs get discounted & free access to tools and education? Well howdy hey, April is a great time! Every dollar you donate is being matched until the end of the month. Throw in a few bucks here.

Hiring! On-Call Tool Librarian

The Denver Tool Library is hiring a Tool Librarian for flexible, on-call coverage during our summer season. Must have general availability during our open hours: Tuesdays and Thursdays (2-7pm) and Saturdays and Sundays (10am-3pm) on an as-needed basis. Some shifts will be scheduled well ahead of time to cover for vacationing tool librarians. Ideal candidates also have flexibility for same day coverage requests, and varying hours. We anticipate at least one shift a week during our busiest months.

Application deadline is 4/21/24

Share The Tools: Why Donate Reason #1

Why donate to the Share the Tools Fund in April for our donation matching birthday fundraiser?

Reason #1: More scholarships for underrepresented makers.

With Denver prices soring, paying for a contractor to keep a home safe and functional is out of reach for many. Your donations help our mission to provide affordable access to tools and education for everyone despite their economic circumstance.

Happy Birthday DTL!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DTL! We turn 9 years old today. In our more adolescent rebellious years we had shows on the roof ("liability" they say!) But we're not total sellouts yet!

Join us tomorrow for our First Friday Birthday Party during the @denversartdistrict Art Walk. There's gonna be candle making w/ @jackieuvalltrades, live tool music, karaoke, and libations. Nobody is going to be on the roof (nice try, cop!) but we will be doing some dancing in celebration of our new Share the Tools Fund.

What's a Share the Tools Fund? So glad you asked! It's like a big pot of money you can throw some dollars in that will go to helping people and orgs afford our programs. Now is a great time to donate because all through April we are matching every dollar donated.

See y'all at the party!

Brand New Class! Cedar Planter Boxes w/ Sineah

Brand New Class! Cedar Planter Boxes w/ Sineah McGrady of @DenverDIYWorkshop. New dates have already been listed, you can see them here.

Just in time for spring - build your own beautiful planter box for your garden! Planter boxes have a large number of advantages including soil control, pest control, ease of maintenance, improved drainage, extended growing season, going easy on your back, and they look great especially when you build them yourself. This class is beginner friendly - all skill levels welcome, woodworking experience not required!

About the Teacher: Sineah has been teaching beginner woodworking classes at the Denver Tool Library since 2018. After moving to Denver in 2016, Sineah discovered the Tool Library and soon after began encouraging others to safely use tools and build things with their own hands. She has taught stool/ plant stand, bookshelf, leaning shelf, cutting board workshops and more. Sineah will encourage you to creatively problem solve and by the end of class, will send you home with a project intended to impress your friends and yourself. Check out Sineah’s work at facebook.com/denverdiyworkshop or on Instagram @DenverDIYWorkshop

Brand New Class! Hand-Dipped Beeswax Candles w/ Jackie

Brand New Class! Hand-Dipped Beeswax Candles w/ Jackie Drummond @jackieuvalltrades. The first class will be Friday, May 3rd at 1pm!

Come learn how to make dipped beeswax candles! We will go over the basics of how to handle and care for beeswax, prepare wick for dipping, and the general techniques on how to build up the body of the candle. Dipped candles differ from poured candles in that the beeswax is layered over and over upon itself to create a stronger structure, similar to the growth of a tree in rings. Beginners are welcome!

About the Teacher: Jackie Drummond (they/she) grew up in Colorado in a mutli-cultural and mutli-generational house. They are excited to share a variety of information on lineages of candle making, curiosities / rituals and uses while leading the community through this chill and meditative class. Jackie encourages BIPOC, 2SLGTBQIA+, and Neurodiverse creators to join them in class, where they intentionally hold space for marginalized people to reclaim joy! Find Jackie on Instagram @jackieuvalltrades and follow along for new classes and offerings at their website Interwoven.

Share the Tools Fund: April Bday Donations Matched!

πŸŽπŸŽ‰April 4th is our Birthday! Donations Matched!πŸŽ‰πŸŽ

The Denver Tool Library is turning 9 years old on April 4th, and for our birthday we are asking you to help us start our new Share the Tools fund! Best part is, during our fundraiser from April 1st to April 30th, 2024, all donations are matched dollar for dollar.

HOW DOES THE SHARE THE TOOLS FUND WORK?

Every dollar you donate goes into a fund. This money pays for the tools, space, and staff needed to ensure that underrepresented individuals and organizations creating positive change have access to our programs. So long as there is money in the fund, we are able to provide free to heavily discounted Tool Library Memberships, Classes, and Open Workshop Hours.

Your money directly goes to…

  • Increasing the availability of scholarships for underrepresented makers

  • Adding new, high-demand tools for you to borrow

  • Repairing and maintaining our 5,400 available public-use tools

  • Taking care of our staff so they can take care of our community

Help us reach our April birthday goal of raising $5,000 for our new Share the Tools fund! You can help by:

  1. Making a donation that is meaningful to you.

  2. Starting a fundraiser and asking your friends and family to help you reach an even higher amount. Everything's better together. Our fundraising toolkit can help you get started.

  3. Seeing if your workplace matches employee donations. You can double your impact. Better yet, start a workplace giving campaign.

If you have any questions about how you can help us reach our April goal of $5,000, please reach out to sandra@denvertoollibrary.org

2024 Share the Tools Funding Stats

All through 2024 we aim to raise $20,000! On average, this will help 500 Denver residents and organization gain access to the tools they need.
