Knowing Your Car Automotive Class
With Care Leite
This class will become a series that goes into your automobile’s different systems in more detail. If you’d like to know when these classes are released, sign up for our Classes Newsletter.
We spend on average 17,600 minutes in our cars per year! Why not learn about how it gets you from point A to point B? In this class you will learn the basics of automotive function and how to care for your own vehicle in a mixed lecture and practical style class so get ready to see what’s under the hood.
We will be covering automotive maintenance and repair concepts for the student with little or no background in the automotive field. There will be time for a questions at the end of class where you will have the opportunity to ask your own specific vehicle questions. We will cover:
How your car works: theory of operation, engine functions & components, intake systems, fuel delivery, ignition & charging systems, engine cooling
Basic maintenance: see on a real car how to checking fluids, oil changes, tire rotation, brakes inspecting & changing, coolant replacement, replacing head & tail lights, battery check & replacement, air filter check & replacement
Roadside emergency procedure: tools to carry, jump-starting, overheating, spare tire changing
Bonus: how not to get ripped off by your mechanic!
Learn what's what under the hood of your car and never again be nervous about that weird light on your dash, or that not so inconspicuous fluid stain in the driveway! Note: Due to time constrictions, students may not have time for hands-on practice, however the instructor will do practical demonstrations on a real car.
