New Shelving Project Finally (mostly) DONE!

Not sure if y’all noticed, but our shelves slowly grew bigger, stronger, and definitely prettier over the past year. Not to say there’s anything necessarily wrong with the old dumpstered retail shelves and teal painted particle board, but they were starting to lean funny under the weight of so many saws (see: terrifying).

HUGE thanks to Denver Climate Action, Sustainability and Resiliency (@denvercasr) who awarded us Certifiably Green Denver Equity Funding, we now have about double the space for tool storage!

Hand-Dipped Beeswax Candles are Back!

Hand-Dipped Beeswax Candles w/ Jackie (@jackieuvalltrades) are back! Get out your sweaters and cider recipes because fall is upon us, and what better way to cozy up that room than some handmade natural candles made with 100% genuine love. Learn a skill, make some friends, and take home something you made. The first class will be Sunday, October 13th at 4pm.

Jackie of Denver Tool Library’s sewing classes will guide you through the basics of how to handle and care for beeswax, prepare wick for dipping, and the general techniques on how to build up the body of the candle. Dipped candles differ from poured candles in that the beeswax is layered over and over upon itself to create a stronger structure, similar to the growth of a tree in rings. Beginners are welcome!

Cedar Planter Boxes are Back!

Our Cedar Planter Box class with Sineah of @DenverDIYWorkshop is back! Be the early planner you wish to be and start getting your gardens ready for 2025. If you learn to make your first planter now, you'll have plenty of time to build more of them during our Open Workshop Hours. The first Planter Box class class will be Sunday, October 13, 2024.

Planter boxes have a large number of advantages including soil control, pest control, ease of maintenance, improved drainage, extended growing season, going easy on your back, and they look great especially when you build them yourself. This class is beginner friendly - all skill levels welcome, woodworking experience not required!

About Your Instructor: Sineah has been teaching beginner woodworking classes at the Denver Tool Library since 2018. She has taught stool/ plant stand, bookshelf, leaning shelf, cutting board workshops and more. Sineah will encourage you to creatively problem solve and by the end of class, will send you home with a project intended to impress your friends and yourself.
